Finding Books:

  • Online Catalog
    • Find books, as well as a variety of other materials in the TU Libraries.
    • Use the Advanced search option to specify material format, campus, language, and date range.
  • WorldCat
    • Listed under Essential Tools.
    • Find books, among other things, to request via Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

Finding Articles:

  • JSTOR
Included in this collection are these specific math-related journals: College Mathematics Journal, Mathematics Magazine, American Journal of Mathematics, and Education Studies in Mathematics. Coverage generally includes the first volume through issues published prior to the most recent 3-5 years (current issues are not available in JSTOR). Also search JSTOR via Google Scholar by including "+JSTOR" in the search.
  • MathSciNet
Created and maintained by the American Mathematical Society, this database is a primary tool for finding research literature in mathematics. Covers articles from about 1,700 journals, as well as conference proceedings and books.
  • McGraw-Hill AccessScience
Contains 8,000 articles written by the leading figures in their fields, including 30 Nobel Prize winners, over 2000 science biographies and 13,000 high-quality illustrations, news stories from Science News, and McGraw-Hill science editors’ selected Web sites for further research capabilities.

Periodicals

  • Taylor Periodical Title List
Search by journal title keyword for online full-text journals, and to see what we have in print in the library.
  • Click here for a Mathematics Subject Search in the Periodical List to find out what journals (and how many) we have available both in print and online. This particular search does a "Science" search, so be sure to look alphabetically for "M" where Mathematics is listed) for online full-text journals, as well as those we have in print. There are about 467 math-related journals listed here, including Mathematics Teacher and Mathematics, Teaching in the Middle School. Click on the blue links to enter the actual list of titles. The numbers in parentheses beside the subject indicate how many journal titles are included in that subject area. It offers subdisciplines, so browse through to find more specific journals for your topic.

Internet Resources

  • Math Archives
An interesting source with a wide variety of links to software, teaching materials, and other topics in math, all combined with a searchable database. Topics section is organized by major category (algebra, applied mathematics, calculus, etc.).
  • Math Digital Library (Mathematical Association of America)
Composed of six categories, this site provides varied resources related to the study of and practice within the field of mathematics. The free sections include: The Journal of Mathematics and its Applications (JOMA), Digital Classroom Resources (DCR), Convergence (Online magazine for the history of mathematics, registration required), and OSSLETS, or the Open Source Sharable Mathlets located within the DCR.
  • The Mathematical atlas: a gateway to modern mathematics
Provides a great overview for math in general, and specific subdivisions. Offers browsing by subject, searching by keyword, a visual map from which to access the information, and text description of the site, its purpose, and layout. Successfully maps the field of math in a logical manner.
  • MathWorld
Considered not only the clearest and most readable online resource for mathematics, but also one of the most reliable. A comprehensive and interactive mathematics encyclopedia intended for all levels of academic study.
  • Mathematical functions
contains the world's most encyclopedic collection of information about mathematical functions. The site also details the interrelationships between the special functions of mathematical physics and the elementary functions of mathematical analysis as well as the interrelationships between the functions in each group.
