- Chronicle of Higher Education Almanac. 2006. [Recently received; in processing]
This is an annual compilation of higher education data arranged by state; it appears as a
special issue of the Chronicle.

A source useful for overviews of higher education issues, topics, and history.
- Religious higher education in the United States: a source book. 1996. 378.016 R2TH

Though somewhat dated this ten volume encyclopedia provides topical essays, entries on
organizations and associations, fields of study, and comparative higher education among others.

- Searching Google Books can benefit your research strategy through Google's
unique search algorithm. By searching for phrases and keywords in the full text,
it can help discover relevant resources that otherwise would not be easy to find.
Whether or not the resources is freely available to read online, you can always
Interlibrary Loan the material using the form on the Library's home page. Finding
the resource is the crucial first step. Google is extremely useful in this part of the

American Council on Education Library catalog
- The American Council on Education Library collects intensively on
higher education topics. There catalog will lead you to many books,
electronic resources, and nonprint materials. Note the capability of
limiting your search by publication date.

ERIC
Covers all aspects of education. Links to the online full-text of most ERIC
documents from 1993 to the present are now available. Offers citations and abstracts
to journal articles and resources related to the field of education. Indexes curriculum
materials, teaching guides, lesson plans, program descriptions, research reports,
conference proceedings, plus articles from over 600 educational and education-related
journals from 1966 to present.

Professional Development Collection
Covers all areas of education. Includes abstracts and indexing for 345 professional
development titles. Full-text for over 430 journals covering the most current topics
in the field of education.

JSTOR
JSTOR (Journal STORage) presents the searchable full text of the complete
back files for over 100 important scholarly journals. Coverage generally includes the
first volume through issues published prior to the most recent 3-5 years
(current issues are not available in JSTOR). Includes journals for the following
disciplines: African-American studies, anthropology, Asian studies, ecology,
economics, education, finance, history, literature, mathematics, philosophy,
political science, population studies, sociology, and statistics.
Also search JSTOR via Google Scholar by including "+JSTOR" in the search.

PsycInfo
Includes citations, most with abstracts, for more than
1,300 journals published in 50 countries and 28 languages. Full text to more than
50 periodicals.
- Education Index (for older resources, especially pre-1990)
A print index, available in the Reference section at Ref 016.37 Ed83. Coverage includes
1975-2003.
- Higher Education Abstracts http://highereducationabstracts.org/ (At Ball State)
This outstanding resource for the study of Higher Education is available a short
distance away at Ball State University in Muncie. Its notable for the breadth of
resources in higher education that it indexes.

schools. Multiple search options including criteria (tuition, enrollment,

Index to virtually every American dissertation accepted at accredited institutions since 1861.
Selectively indexes masters theses, Canadian dissertations, British and other European dissertations.

CREDO Reference (formerly xreferplus)
A conglomeration of specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias that allows you
to search for definitions and encyclopedia articles, as well as develop ideas for
expanding or refining a research strategy.

The standard source for citation style in literature and writing, published by
the Modern Language Association.
- WorldCat.org
"Cite this item" within individual item record lists the citation in APA, MLA,
Chicago and more. WorldCat.org now provides citations to several standard journals
in higher education. "Cite this item" will generate citations to periodical articles as well.
- Foxit Reader for .pdf files
A vastly growing selection of full-text periodical articles are available through
resources such as JSTOR, Academic Search Premier, Professional Development Collection,
and Google Scholar. Foxit Reader is a free, fast, unencumbered reader for .pdf files.

- Intute
Its mission: "to advance education and research by promoting the best of the
Web in one easily accessible place, providing access to quality resources through
a process of evaluation and collaboration." Searches will reveal many UK and European
sources but also a considerable number from North America. Here for example, is
